Reinstate Fire Restrictions

CARBONDALE, Colo. – After consulting with the Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District the Town of Carbondale Manager, Jay Harrington, has decided to reinstate fire restrictions. Effective September 21, 2018 fire pits with screens to prevent sparks dispersing, charcoal and gas grills and smokers will be allowed in the Town of Carbondale.  The following restrictions are reinstated in place:

  • No smoking is allowed except within enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site, or in a barren area free of vegetation of at least 20 feet in diameter.
  • No use of explosive materials is permitted.
  • No welding or operation of an acetylene or other similar torch with open flame is permitted except from an area that has been cleared of vegetation of at least 30 feet diameter.
  • No operation of any internal combustion engine without a spark arresting device properly installed and in working order is permitted.
  • The fire chief for the Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District may permit a fire if deemed appropriate.
