BUILDING INSPECTIONS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE MONDAY THRU FRIDAY BY CALLING THE INSPECTION LINE (970) 510-1210 BY 5:00 P.M. THE BUSINESS DAY PRIOR TO THE REQUESTED INSPECTION.

Please note that ALL development with the exception of a single-family residence is required to go through site plan review. Some PUDs may be exempt.

2009 IRC, IBC, IMC, IPC, IFGC

All valuations over $120,000 require pre-payment of the plan review, which will be assessed based on the valuation of the project.

BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATIONS & SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS BELOW AND CAN BE SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL TO THE PERMIT TECH IN THE CONTACT BOX ABOVE

  • New Single-Family and Duplex
    • Digital Plans with conditioned gross & net floor areas listed on plans, on a Stick or via Dropbox to the Building Department Permit Tech above; (Architectural Drawings with stamped structural, site plan, & solar access plan, stamped with HOA Approval if applicable AND all documents in the above link). 
    • After review digitally is complete we will require one set of paper 24 x 36 plans to be printed and submitted to the Building Department prior to issuance of the building permit by the applicant.
  • Residential Addition – After Planning Approval
    • Digital Plans with conditioned gross & net floor areas listed on plans, on a Stick or via Dropbox to the Building Department Permit Tech above; (Architectural Drawings with stamped structural, site plan, & solar access plan, stamped with HOA Approval if applicable AND all documents in the above link).
    • If over 500 square feet the REBP checklist is required under the link above.
    • After review digitally is complete we will require one set of paper 24 x 36 plans to be printed and submitted to the Building Department prior to issuance of the building permit by the applicant.
  • Residential Remodel
    • Digital Plans with conditioned gross & net floor areas listed on plans with before and after floorplans, on a Stick or via Dropbox to the Building Department Permit Tech above; (with stamped structural – typically requires a design professional AND all documents in the above link).
    • After review digitally is complete we will require one set of paper 24 x 36 plans to be printed and submitted to the Building Department prior to issuance of the building permit by the applicant.
  • New Commercial
    • Digital Plans with conditioned gross & net floor areas listed on plans, on a Stick or via Dropbox to the Building Department Permit Tech above;(Civil,  Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing Drawings all sheets must be stamped AND all documents in the above link).               
    • After review digitally is complete we will require one set of paper 24 x 36 plans to be        printed and submitted to the Building Department prior to issuance of the building permit  by the applicant.
  • Commercial Remodel
    • Digital Plans with conditioned gross & net floor areas listed on plans on a Stick or via Dropbox to the Building Department Contact above; (all sheets to be stamped, before and after floor plans AND asbestos test report of areas to be demoed AND all documents in the above link) 
    • After review digitally is complete we will require one set of paper 24 x 36 plans to be printed and submitted to the Building Department prior to issuance of the building permit by the applicant.
  • Restaurant – New and/or remodeling existing restaurant
    • Retail Food Establishments - If you are looking to construct a restaurant facility, open a restaurant, or take over an existing restaurant, please contact Garfield County Public Health.

  • Wood Stoves/Pellet Stoves
    • All stoves require a mechanical permit. 
  • All Fences - New and Replacement of fencing

  • Driveways                        
    • Any work to a driveway is required to be approved by Public Works                                 
  • Roof
    • All roof work requires a building permit. 
  • Window Replacement
    • If framing is needed, two sets of plans are required.
  • Shed Over 120 sq. ft.
